Welcome To Sankofa Youth And Family Services! 

 

Sankofa means “go back and take” (Sanko- go back, fa-take) from the Akan language in Ghana, Africa.  It symbolizes one taking from the past what is good and bringing it into the present in order to make positive progress through the benevolent use of knowledge.

 

It’s time to stop wondering what we can do to reduce homelessness for the most fragile youth in the area.  25% of youth who have been abused and neglected are homeless within 2-4 years after being emancipated from the Child Welfare system.  Let’s pull our resources together and continue to provide the needed support to these youth, so they can truly be self sufficient and contribute to their community in a positive way. They deserve to have their dreams come true!!
